Meet the Artist
Nicole Haywood is an artist, clinical art psychotherapist, and expressive therapies continuum practitioner from Canada.
What is a Reshapeling?
A Shifting Being Seeking Meaning.
In her art practice Haywood creates surreal and intuitive artworks that explore questions she has about our internal experiences of the world- particularly the distorted, strange and often frightening ones.
She is curious about the conscious/unconscious forces that drive us and the impact of our inherently shifting emotions, memories, perceptions and personal narratives on our present subjective experience. Haywood often tests the boundary between the real and the unreal and draws from her own lived experiences with mental illness, personal/familial trauma, and distorted/ altered states of consciousness: dreams, reveries, memories, flashbacks, delusions, night terrors, and nightmares. She has a deep interest in psychology, science fiction, horror, and the natural world which inform her work.
Haywood hopes that by sharing her art, she will better give voice to and learn to love the shadowy parts of her own psyche. She hopes to inspire others to do the same.
Haywood received her BFA with distinction from the Alberta University of the Arts (AuArts) before completing her Masters-Level Clinical Art Psychotherapy Diploma from the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy (CiiAT). Haywood is a Professional Member with the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA) and is the proud owner of
